FAQ
- Are pets allowed?
While we love pets and have two fur babies of our own we do not allow pets on the boat. It makes cleaning more of a challenge and finding a place for pets to walk and use the bathroom is not easy either.
- Can I swim in The St. Johns River or the lakes connected to the river?
Use caution and common sense when swimming in the river and lakes. Remember that you are sharing the water with Florida Wildlife including Alligators and Snakes. We recommend you swim in the many Natural Springs where the water is clear but you should always use caution. Deleon Springs has a separate swimming area.
- If I want to cook on the boat what should I bring?
Bring foods you would enjoy cooking. Simpler meals are best. We recommend avoid cooking a beef wellington with a bearnaise sauce or anything of difficulty. Your Tiny Houseboat has a clean kitchenette equipped with a 2 burner gas stove and sink, and all the cooking utensils and cookware you will need to cook a great meal (i.e. Pots/pans, griddle/grill, tongs, spatula, chef knife, cutting board, plates/bowls, cups, etc.)
- Is there water onboard?
There is a 10 gallon tank of tap water for washing dishes and flushing the toilet. You should bring drinking water.
- Are there linens onboard?
We provide two clean pillows and towels. You will need to bring clean bed sheets, clean blanket, and clean pillow cases.
- Are Manatee Friendly?
Manatee can be very friendly. In fact, they are known as the gentle giants. Look all you want but please do not feed or touch them. Always keep an eye out as slow-moving manatees often cannot avoid the speed boats and other watercraft that frequent the Florida waterways they call home. As a result, propellers and boat hulls inflict serious or mortal wounds, and most manatees have a pattern of scars on their backs or tails after surviving collisions with boats.
- Are the Bug’s Bad?
Florida is a tropical climate, so there will be bugs (less in winter). Your Tiny Houseboat is equipped with screens on doors and windows, but if you plan to spend time outside after dusk make sure you bring your bug spray.
- How do I operate the toilet?
Lift the peddle near the floor to fill the bowl with water. Push the peddle down to flush. No feminine products or trash in the toilet please.
- How do I operate the stove?
Turn on the propane tank located outside in the back, turn stove knobs to light position, then use lighter in drop down cabinet to light stove. Turn knobs to off position and turn off propane tank when not in use.
- How do I fill the gas tank?
Push tab down on gas cap & twist the cap on the gas can, then fill with non ethanol gas only.
- How many people can I have on the boat?
Maximum capacity is 4 people.
- Who do I call if I have boat trouble?
Just call us 407-252-9743. Many times the problem is something simple and we can talk you through a quick fix. If not, no worries, we will come to you or arrange for a tow.
- What do I do if someone is hurt or I have an emergency?
Go to the nearest dock, gas station, restaurant, or public boat launch and dial 911. Then call 407-252-9743.
